Conjunction in Logic
Conjunction in logic.
Hello friends, Welcome to my blog mathstips4u.
In this post we are going to learn Conjunction and
its truth table.
So let’s begin with
Conjunction (Ʌ):
If p and q are two simple
statements, their conjunction is “p and q”, written as p Ʌ
q.
p Ʌ q
is defined to have truth value “true “if both p and q have truth values “true”.
In all other cases, p Ʌ q is defined to have truth value
“false”. Now we shall see
truth table of Conjunction p Ʌ
q.

Note:
11. The words “but”, “yet”, “still”,
“moreover”, “while”, “in spite of”,” though”, “even though” are used instead of
“and “.
22. p Ʌ q and q Ʌ p
both are same.
Ex. Express following in
symbolic form.
11. Savita is tall and beautiful.
22. Anil and Sunil belongs to same cast.
33. The drug is effective though it has side
effects.
44., In spite of tight security Dena bank were
robed.
I will solve 1st example, remaining are
left for you so try it, and don’t get panic. I will give the solution in my
next post.
Solution:
1 p: Savita is tall.
q: Savita is beautiful.
Symbolic form is p Ʌ
q.
In this way we have seen
conjunction and its truth table.
In my next post we are going
to learn disjunction and its truth table.
